One of the wonderful things about Pure Romance is the flexibility you have to work the days and hours that you want. You can do two shows per week, two shows each month, or a show every day of the year if you like; it all comes down to how much money you choose to earn. To become, and stay, active with Pure Romance you must, at least, follow these minimum requirements. 1. Submit your required paperwork. 2. Place your initial $250 retail order within 60 days of your kit ship date. 3. Place a retail order (doesn‘t matter the amount) every 60 days following that 1st order. Pure Romance recognizes the dedication you are choosing to make to your business but also understands the dedication you place on other aspects of your life; be it family, another job, illness, travel, or other commitments that may absorb your time. By placing these minimum requirements it is our desire to help you remain active and to continue to supply you with training material, etc, during those slow times. However, I encourage you not to rely on those minimums unless you really need to. As your sponsor, I am extremely excited to help you launch your Pure Romance career. It is my job to assist in your education, training, and skills needed to become a successful consultant. On a personal note, I also recognize that the kit you purchase is not simply a box of training material, paper supplies, and product. Your kit is an opportunity, a dream, and a tool to help you achieve your goals. Again, you can do as many shows each week and each month as you choose. But whether you are choosing to create a new lifestyle, increase financial security, or whether you are simply looking to embrace an amazing group of women and the opportunity to get out of the house from time to time, I will encourage you to work the next 45 days using this business launch guideline. When you successfully work with me along these guidelines over the next 45 days, you will be well prepared to pursue your dreams having gained an immediate return on your investment and additional income in your pocket, bookings on your calendar, the skills to book new shows, and quite possibly your first of many raises with Pure Romance. 3 I. NEW CONSULTANT CHECKLIST QUESTIONS This section of the packet should help answer questions that most new consultants have when they are first starting their business. If you have any further questions or you need clarifying please contact your sponsor. 1. Did you send the proper documents to the corporate office? There are several documents you need to send to corporate when you first sign on, they must be received within 30 days of signing on otherwise you become inactive.  PRCA (Pure Romance Consultant Application)- You should have received this from your sponsor and is the document that you order your starter kit from. If you faxed this in or signed up online you MUST send in this original copy so they have your actual signature on file.  Consultant Agreement- you most likely also received this from your sponsor, however if you did not you can find this on the PR website under Business Tools. You must fill out this form and mail into corporate.  Tax Exempt Form- every consultant needs to fill out this form and it is also found in the Business Tools section. When you sign on you must also fill out the WISH LIST which is found in the Events section of the PR website. Corporate Mailing Address: Pure Romance 161 Commerce Blvd Loveland, OH 45140 2. Do you know how to log on to the Pure Romance website? When you become a consultant you will receive a phone call from customer service welcoming you to the company. During this call you will also receive your Consultant ID number and your password (your password is the last 4 digits of SSN). You will need your Consultant ID Number to log in to the website and receive credit for any Corporate Sponsored Training, so learn it! 4 Day 1. Book your Debut Show with me. What is a Debut Show? It is the ultimate opportunity to introduce your business to your friends and family – and their friends and family, and their friends and family, and…. How does a Debut Show work? I come to your home (or a friend‘s home). I bring my demo products, my knowledge, and my experience. Sometimes the hardest women to present to are those close to you. Let my experience and training get you launched the best way possible! And, watch them touch, taste, and smell our products, creating loyalty to you! When do we do your Debut Show? Any time from the moment you sign up, up to 15 days later. What you can expect from me at your Debut Show      A fun, knowledgeable, classy demonstration of our product line for you and your guests An opportunity for you to watch, listen, learn, and ask questions A great chance for your family and friends to see how truly wonderful our product line is and how much you can impact the lives of future customers. Lap board material – your initial guest wish list, booking opportunities, sales, and recruiting material. ( I do ask you to provide catalogs and order forms with your personal information on them, unless you have not yet received your kit.) My best efforts in helping you achieve great sales and leads from your show. Much of my ability to succeed depends on you! What I expect from you before and at your Debut Show.  Commitment. I am gladly giving up time with my personal business and family but it is 100% worthwhile when I see you profit and succeed! I do expect you to work hard, not just making it worth my time and efforts but even more so, making it worth your time and effort! I expect you to sit down and make a comprehensive guest list. Who are you going to invite and how many of them are bringing friends? If you need help developing a list, do let me know. A list from you of your next 10 dates available where you can conduct a party. They should date no further than 3 weeks following your debut. To fulfill all orders from your debut party. I will be giving you all of the orders and all of the profit, it will be your responsibility to order the products and deliver in a timely fashion (7-10 business days) to your customers. I also ask that you use all profit from this show to add more to your demo and stock.    Our goal, together, will be to book 6 shows over the 3 weeks following your debut. 5 Why? 1. Practice makes perfect. The more opportunities you have to practice your demo and your business skills, the more confident and successful you‘ll become! 2. Profit. You have invested your money in your kit. Even with the $1000 kit, you should easily have it paid for and you will be turning a profit within that 45 day period. 3. Recruiting Opportunities. You will consistently earn $180-$400 per show, often more. Ultimate wealth, however, comes through building a successful downline. Not only will you recognize an increase in buying discount, bonuses, and increased free product each month, you will be potentially changing the lives of the women you touch. The more shows you do, the more women you will find to introduce to our Pure Romance family. I encourage you to allow me to assist you in adding two women to your team within the first 45 days. If you are pursuing Pure Romance as a full time career, this will launch you toward huge rewards. If you plan to simply do 3-4 shows per month, you will still recognize a 4½% raise. I will help you sign them up, and I will help you train them. Inviting women to share your experience, train alongside you, and grow will both enhance your personal experience and your bottom profit! Ok – Lets Review!       Schedule your Debut Party Read your handbook from cover to cover at least 2 times Read Your contest book Watch and Inhale your training DVD-This is valuable and will give you great product demo ideas! Watch the PR Sexual Health CD-Rom Review your Product Queue cards Following your debut…. Continue to visit the website, talk to friends and family about your business, and ‗walk the walk!‘ Do consider getting some Pure Romance gear – bags, t-shirts, and hats are fabulous ways to advertise your business. Personalized pens and a Personalized PR Car Decal are great forms of advertisement also! Also, invest in some Personal Labels, LABEL EVERYTHING! Label all products, catalogs, etc. (I personally use HTML Printing for my Labels, very inexpensive) After your first couple of shows, shadow a local consultant (other than me) to a party. It is ideal to gain new perspectives on our business. Follow your booking, hostess coaching, and customer service skills! Complete your remaining 4 shows by Day 45. Call me so we can conduct a phone, or even better, a personal interview to see how you are feeling and what you want to accomplish in your next 3 months! 6 I Just Got My Kit- Now What? Let’s go through your kit! When you get your kit you will be overwhelmed with all that come in it. I have created a guide that you can follow to make sure you get the most out of your kit.  READ YOUR HANDBOOK! You will receive this with your kit and you must read this so you know corporate policy, recommendations for having successful shows, recruiting and much more. I read this almost every 6 months to refresh myself on policy. You are always welcome to call and email me with questions. If the answer is in your handbook, I will kindly remind you to look it over again- there is too much good information to overlook. READ YOUR CONTEST BOOK! This will also come in your kit and it is combined with the calendar. This will help break down all the perks you receive with this business. You need to know how you can earn convention credits, free product, etc.   Make a list of the things you think you will want to stock up on and/or add to your demo with your first few orders. This should also include some giveaways for the games that you do at your parties or for any incentives you offer for people who bring friends. When making this list it is very important to talk with your sponsor to ask them what they recommend and to see what is popular for them. Some great giveaways are found in the net section and can include: doodle pads, penis lipsticks, dic tax and tit tacs, coupon books for lovers, items in grab bags etc. When you receive your starter kit you will want to give yourself a few hours to go through all the stuff you have received. In the kit you will get an invoice, go through all the things in your kit to make sure it was received. Occasionally an item that should be in your kit will be on backorder. If an item is missing from your kit, read your invoice – you will be able to see if it is just missing or if the company has it placed on backorder. Also, if you had your kit sent overnight, any aerosol products (between the sheets) will be sent separately via UPS Ground.) Backordered items are sent with your next order from Corporate after they become available. Corporate will not send them to you separately after they are taken off the backorder list. If for some reason you will not be placing an order but need your backordered items, please call Corporate- They will ship your backordered items separately for you three times a year for a small fee. There are some things in all kits that I recommend not opening in your demo because it is not something that either sells for most of us, you can use something different or it really isn‟t testable so if you leave it sealed you can sell it off your table.     Once you have gone through your kit, take time to label all your business cards, catalogs and order forms. You will be ready to start handing the cards out and you can start making your hostess packets! Avoid toy meltdown!! Many of these toys will ‗melt‘ together if set on top of each other for a period of time. To avoid this I recommend using zip lock baggies, brown paper lunch bags or cloth bags for each toy you have in your demo. I also like using these bags because when you are putting things away you always know you are not missing any because if you were you would have a bag left over. Feel free to ask me for more suggestions on storing your toys safely.  7 Guidelines for Shadowing Please remember that when you shadow another consultant you are coming in as her guest and how you look and behave can be a direct reflection on the consultant and Pure Romance. These guidelines are for you to read and understand so that the consultant does not have to ask you to leave. If these guidelines are not followed you will not be given the opportunities that the other experienced consultants share with each other. We all want you to succeed and represent Pure Romance in a professional manner. Attire: Do’s Do wear slacks or a professional length skirt. Professional length is to the knees or below. Do wear a blouse or a nice sweater. Do wear closed toe shoes. Wear professional shoes. Do have your toes manicured or nicely trimmed. Do wear nylons or a nice pair of dress socks. In case you must remove your shoes. Do have your fingernails trimmed. Do take an extra few minutes on your hair to make sure it is under control. Do keep mints in your purse in case you are a smoker or coffee drinker . Attire Don’ts Don’t wear jeans, painter pants, corduroys or Capri’s. ( I have worn cute slack style Capri‘s during the summer as long as you are dressing it up with a nice blouse) Don‘t wear clothes that expose your midriff. It is extremely unprofessional. Don‘t have cleavage showing. Remember we want the customers to remember Pure Romance products not your breasts. Don‘t wear pants that show your underwear or dental floss when you bend over. Don‘t wear a sweatshirt or any kind of logo t-shirt. Exception: Pure Romance Shirts. Don‘t wear sneakers, deck shoes, hiking boots. Behavior: Do bring a Smile, a helpful attitude, and a bottle of water. Do eat before you come so you won‘t be tempted to ask for refreshments. Do not use the hostess‘s kitchen for ice or anything other finding a garbage can. Do not hand out your information, Business Cards or Catalogs. Do not drink alcohol or take smoke breaks. Remember you are there to OBSERVE the other consultants. It is very important to stand back or sit back (if there are enough seats) and observe how the other consultant does her parties. If you have questions about how and why she does something ask her after the party ends. It is very embarrassing when someone interrupts the consultant with their questions or tidbits of information. 8 Pure Romance consultant website Have you browsed it yet? Things not to miss... 1. Activate your free website. Its already set up for you, and you can tweak it how you like. Once you activate it, you will then be put on the consultant directory list. Your website address will be “your first and last name.PureRomance.com” 2. Get your free email account set up. Your email address will be “Your preferred name@PureRomance.com Lets navigate the consultant website! First, go to . Click on the “Consultants” icon at the top. You will then be prompted to enter your consultant ID and password (last 4 of your SSN) You will then see several different sub-sections! Notice at the top.... it will show you your current consultant level and discount. MTD sales: Retail total amounts that you have ordered for the current month YTD sales: retail total amounts that you have ordered for the entire year.  www.pureromance.com Sales and contest – Check out the daily sale and monthly contest, monthly kit special and products of the month, (which are offered at a discount when you order them! Even MORE profit for you!)    Current news – These are corporate updates and news Orders – This is where you will place a new order, view past orders and place free product orders. You can also view corporate backorders. Personal website – View orders placed by customers who used your website. You can also update and tweak your website page. My Business – (This one is important!) View Credits on file, input credit cards received for product purchases, view your downline reports and override reports.  9  Forums – Allows you to participate in consultant forums. Network with other consultants all over the world. Read and ask sexual health questions to be answered by one of our Pure Romance doctors. You can also notify corporate of any questions or concerns you might have. The forums are an invaluable tool, and I hope you take advantage of them!  Business tools – Documents and training tools. These can be very helpful! This section also features several helpful links (including PR gear, ordering custom business cards, state tax links, and more). There is also a section on product info, and info on health insurance. Event registration – Register for Pure Romance university here! This training is in depth and also invaluable! You can also register for Pure Romance convention, Annual training held in Cincinnati, as well as local market trainings. Remember, try to go to all trainings! PR Mail – This is where you get into your Pure Romance email. Be sure to check it often, as you will get emails notifying you of website orders, important news from corporate! Also, friends, family and customers can email you here! You can also access your email by typing in mail.pureromance.com in your URL address, that will lead you directly to the log-in page.   10 Corporate Vs. Sponsor? There will be times as a new consultant that you will have questions. As your sponsor we are happy to help you with increasing your business knowledge. Some questions can be answered by your sponsor and some may require you to call customer service call 513.697.5971 and enter your consultant ID and then the # sign. Then you will need to enter your password number. This will direct you to customer service. Before you call your sponsor or the corporate office, be sure to read your handbook. Many questions can be answered by reading this informative tool. It was created to be a wonderful reference for you. When to call your sponsor       Product or demo questions or assistance. For example you need help selling a certain product. How to increase party sales, party attendance, how to manage large crowds, other party tips. How to recruit. Forms to use can be found under the reference guide. Questions regarding getting the business started, time management, what tools to use to stay organized and prepared for the next tax year. Assistance in booking parties, where and how to market, etc. Sales techniques When to call Pure Romance Customer Service.  Credit on file questions  Website issues.  Orders Product not received in your delivered order from corporate. ( Is it backordered? You will see a 0 next to quantity sent and it should appear on the backorder screen online. Always check. If it is on backorder you will receive it with your next order or you can call to request that they send the backorder 2 times a year without paying extra. You have 24 hours to contact corporate regarding missing product. ) Product damaged in transit.  Payment questions. (payments to Pure Romance)  Business card orders or Pure Romance apparel questions  Hostess Incentive Contest questions.  Pure Romance email questions.  Medical questions that relate to our product.  If you are contacted by the media you must refer them to the corporate office. This is in your contract.  Convention credits 11 Commonly asked questions: How Do I Get My First Party Scheduled?  I recommend all new consultants hold their own Debut party. This gives you the opportunity to invite every female you know to your party, so you have a variety of groups represented. Offer something that will help encourage your friends to bring their friends (Maybe free shipping if you they bring two friends with them). A starter party helps get you those first parties booked. If you don‟t think you can have a party of your own then you need to hit up your friends and family. Ask every person you know to host a party! You would be surprised at who will say yes. Also look at the „How to find a hostess‟ document under Business Tools. Make a list of potential hostesses. Everyone, on average, knows 250 people! Best bet, more than half of them are women. Sit down with a pen and paper and don‟t forget (your mail carrier, banker, women from school, women from exercise classes, past neighbors, past co-workers, teachers, fellow parents, women from church, etc) Again, go over the „how to find a hostess‟ document and get to work. You need to pound the pavement when you first start as a consultant- that means you need to have your business cards with you everywhere you go. Leave them in all tip jars, with waitresses, in the bank tube at the drive through, at your doctor‟s office, etc. TALK your business up to any and all females you see- you need to be comfortable with your business and promote like you have been doing it for years. MASTER your 30 second commercial- this is what you say when you are introducing Pure Romance to someone. Here are a few examples of what you can say to people-     Hi have you ever heard of Pure Romance? It is an in-home party plan for ladies! We cater a party to suit you and your friends; we have lotions, potions, games, books, lingerie and if you want to get a little wilder we can also show adult bedroom toys. Would you like a catalog? Hi, I‟m Noelle, a Romance Specialist I help put the „o‟ back in romance as well as provide a wonderful selection of products that help you pamper yourself and/or your relationship. Would you like to hear more? My job? Well I help educate and empower women on their sexuality and sensuality. I am a Pure Romance consultant- we do in home parties for 12 ladies where we focus on lotions, potions, and lingerie and bedroom accessories. 1. Make your presentation fun, and, offer hostess incentives. When your hostess and her guests have so much fun, they are all thinking in the back of their heads that they would love for you to do a party for their friends. Reference the forums, it includes fun ideas using envelopes, balloons, Easter eggs, heart shaped boxes, baskets, increased % of sales, gift certificates, etc…. the list is only limited to your imagination. 2. Give your hostesses and every guest at least 2 cards each. One to keep and the other to pass on to a friend. Word of mouth is the best advertising for your business. Give them an extra incentive to pass along your card by making it a coupon. If they pass your card on to someone that books a party, give her $10 or $15 toward free product, or you could give her 10% off her next order of $30, $40, or $50. 3. Another idea is offering guests as well as the hostess a gift certificate for each booking that night. Since the hostess wants to get as much out of her party as she can, she‟ll be working at bugging her friends to book a party. It‟s up to you, but I only issue a gift certificate if they book a date on my calendar that night. Again, trying to eliminate the “I‟ll call you when I pick a good day”. 4. Remember that whatever incentive you are giving away for bookings, do not fulfill them until the parties hold. Otherwise, you‟ll have lots of ladies booking shows and then canceling them because they already have the free product. You could also put a minimum party total on the incentives depending on what you giving away. Example: if I give away “The Ladies Ultimate Package” (Ex-T-Cee, Nympho Niagra and X-Scream) as a booking prize, this will be given to the hostess at her party if the party totals are a minimum of $300. 13 I have my first Party today! Am I ready? The night of your first party can be a very nerve racking time however it is also very exciting! Make sure you have everything ready           Do you have your change and money bag/box ready along with calculator? Is your demo put together and do you have batteries for your toys? Do you have your lapboards put together? Do you know what games you will play? Do you have some giveaways for the games? Do you know what specials you will offer your hostess and incentives for bookings? Do you have at least 3 Hostess Packets and 3 Recruiting Packets ready? Have you made contact with the Hostess to confirm her party and get an idea of how many guest might be there? Have you reminded the hostess that there can be NO MEN or CHILDREN? Do you know your product? If you need to use cue cards feel free, this may give you a little more confidence to know you have the information available if you need it. Are you smiling and enthusiastic? It‟s fine to be nervous your first party. You will probably be nervous until you‟ve done a few parties. But relax. The best way to book and sell is to love your product, have fun, and be enthusiastic – you signed up for a reason – you are now officially a Pure Romance Consultant. Have fun and remember that you are sharing incredible products, party opportunities, and business opportunities with women just like yourself! Once you have everything ready for the night of your party you are ready for some fun! 14 GAMES FOR YOUR PARTIES THE RIGHT/LEFT GAME Read the following story as fast as you can. You can put gifts in paper bags or use a Mr. Dependable for passing and then whoever is left with him gets a prize. The ―prize‖ should be passed either right or left according to the story: ―The big night had arrived for my date with Mr. RIGHT. Getting dressed was all I had LEFT to do. I put on my RIGHT stocking and then my LEFT, lining the seams ups the RIGHT way. There was a knock at the door; Mr. RIGHT was RIGHT on time. Putting my robe on that I LEFT on my bed, I rushed to answer the door. The postal worker had LEFT my Pure Romance order. It was the order I had phoned in and LEFT with my Pure Romance lady, just the other day. It wasn‘t Mr. RIGHT but this worked out perfectly because the Basic Instinct was sure to attract Mr. RIGHT. I started putting my mascara on my LEFT eye and poked myself RIGHT in the eye. By the time I was done, I had a run in my RIGHT stocking and broke a nail on my LEFT hand. I was finally done but Mr. RIGHT was late. Mr. RIGHT was 45 minutes late. What‘s that … another knock? I ran RIGHT for the door. I tripped on the carpet and broke my LEFT heel. Oh no! What else wouldn‘t go RIGHT? I shouldn‘t have asked because I extended my RIGHT hand to shake his and, of course, he was LEFT-handed. This date wasn‘t starting out RIGHT, and Mr. RIGHT was late and the mood was ruined. We LEFT in a hurry, hoping to find somewhere for dinner. We found a restaurant and the maitre‘d got us RIGHT in. When dinner arrived, Mr. RIGHT didn‘t know if he should use the silverware on his RIGHT or LEFT. When the check came, Mr. RIGHT said he LEFT his wallet at home. I paid the bill and realized I had LEFT my curling iron on. We LEFT in a hurry and I told Mr. RIGHT we had to get RIGHT home. I told him of a shortcut to get us RIGHT home but, he didn‘t listen and instead of RIGHT he turned LEFT. Mr. RIGHT finally got me home, and I told him that I had a nice evening and extended my LEFT hand to say goodnight. Before I knew it, Mr. RIGHT kissed me RIGHT on the lips. I turned around and quickly LEFT. Thank goodness I had also ordered the Decadent Indulgence from my Pure Romance consultant and that it had come in the order that the postal worker had LEFT for me earlier. I knew I would be much happier when Mr. RIGHT LEFT. Mr. RIGHT definitely wasn‘t my Mr. RIGHT! ICE BREAKER GAME Let each guest choose a Pure Romance balloon from a bowl. Then explain that the first lady to blow up her balloon, tie it, sit on it and pop it will win a free gift. This is a great icebreaker for any group; it gets everyone up and laughing. 15 PERSONALITY GAME First have every lady write her name on top of the paper (pass out sheets from the novelty doodle pads or use the back of order form). Then ask these three simple questions: 1. Write a word that describes your favorite animal. 2. Write a word that describes your favorite color. 3. Write a word that describes what the ocean is like to you. Now have every lady pass her paper to the lady on her left. Explain to everyone that the answers to the questions reveal secrets about them, which is why they passed their papers to the person next to them. That person is going to read the responses so there is no cheating and changing answers to cover up your deepest darkest secrets. 1. The answer to the first question reveals how you see yourself. 2. The answer to the second question reveals how you think other people see you. 3. The answer to the third questions reveals how you view sex. Have them read the answers one at a time. (Everyone should take a turn answering the first question.) I tell them they have to say the following: ―(Name of person on top of paper) sees herself as (the answer to question #1). Then do the same thing with questions #2 and #3. You can give a prize for the funniest one or just do this as an icebreaker game. WHAT IS IN MY PURSE? Have each lady get her purse and then ask her the following questions. Give her points for each item. Whoever has most points at the end of the game wins. (You can make more up as you go along or take some away.) 1. Do you have a tissue in your purse? – 5 points 2. Is the tissue used? – 10 points 3. Do you have a Visa card in your purse? – 5 points for each one 4. Do you have a major credit or debit card in your purse? – 5 points for each one 5. Do you have cash in your purse? – 5 points for each $1 bill; 10 points for each $5 bill; 15 points for each $10 bill; 20 points for each $20 bill; 50 points for each $50 bill; 100 points for each $100 bill! 6. Do you have your party invitation with you? – 5 points 7. Do you have my business card in your purse? – 20 points 8. Do you have my pen in your purse? – 20 points 9. Do you have a debit card in your purse? – 5 points 10. Do you have my brochure in your purse? – 10 points 11. Do you have a bedroom accessory in your purse? – 50 points 12. Do you have a lubricant in your purse? – 25 points 13. Do you have bosom buddy in your purse? – 10 points 14. Do you have a picture of your boyfriend/husband in your purse? – 10 points 15. Do you have a condom in your purse? – 10 points 16. Do you keys in your purse? – 5 points 17. Do you have a tube of lipstick in your purse? – 5 points 18. Blindfolded Truth Game Ladies you will need the following items for this game: 10 blindfolds, 10 dixie cups, 10 bags with 15 pennies or marbles in them. Now give everyone lady a blindfold, cup and bag of marbles. Have them put the blindfold on. You will ask them all a question and if they answer yes to that question they have to drop a penny/marble in the cup. Now since they are blindfolded they won‘t know who is answering they will just hear lots of pennies/marbles being dropped in the cups. The person with the most pennies/ marbles in her cup wins a prize. Questions: Are you wearing a thong? Have you had sex in the shower? Use a canning jar or any medium-sized jar and fill it with penis erasers. Hold the jar up for all party guests to see and then put the jar away. Give each guest a piece of paper (use one of our doodle pads), and then hold the jar up again for 15 seconds. Have each lady write down the number of penises she thinks are in the jar and sign her name. The lady who submits the closest number without going over wins! It‘s pretty to look at and fun to do! SUCK THOSE NUTS Supplies needed: Straws, small paper cups, peanut M&M‘s. Put five M&M‘s in each cup and pass out one cup and a straw to each guest. Then have her dump out the M&M‘s in one hand, hold the cup in the other, and put the straw in her mouth. She must suck through the straw and pick up the M&M‘s with the other end of the straw and put them in the cup. The first lady to get all M&M‘s in the cup wins. When each guest is finished, have her scream out something—orgasm, sex, Pure Romance by Ann—whatever you choose. CROSSED OUT As your guests arrive, give every few people who arrive on time a small gift. (For example, you can give every fourth person a gift (or give the gifts however you choose). As soon as everyone is sitting, tell the group about the "no crossing" rule. If a lady holding a gift is caught crossing her legs, she must relinquish her gift to the person who catches her. This game should be played for the entire length of the party. At the end of the party, everyone who has a gift gets to open it. (If a person who already has a gift catches someone with a gift crossing her legs, she can either trade gifts with that person, or choose a person who is "giftless" to give the extra gift to.) 18 PURSE TREASURE HUNT Have each lady put her purse on her lap. Yell out an item and have the ladies look for that item in their purse. Start out with easy things and make them crazier as you go along. For example, start with something like a driver's license and finish with something like hand lotion or baby items. Award a prize to the first person to pull each item out of her purse. This is similar to the ―What is in My Purse?‖ game except that instead of the person with the most points winning a prize, in this game each person who finds the item first will get a prize. It is best to use smaller prizes for this game such as Dic Tax, Doodle Pads, Glow Condoms, and Peter Lipstick. Hot P’Dildo Use the Pulsa Bath Ball and the Double Header for this game. The object of the game— don‘t get stuck with the Double Header when the Pulsa Bath Ball is turned off. A fun twist is using the Pulsa Bath Ball for the noise instead of music; it gives off a great buzz. Turn the ball on and start passing the Double Header clockwise between the legs—no hands, ladies! Randomly turn the ball off, and whoever is stuck with the Double Header is out. The last woman in the game wins the prize. Either the ‗Hot P‘Dildo‘ game, Hollerin Hotel Game, or one of the other games. Then, I have the ladies fill out the top of the order form while I tell them about myself. My name is Raynesa and, in addition to Pure Romance Parties, I am a stay at home mom. When I joined Pure Romance, I was working full –time for a company that I absolutely couldn‘t stand. It is important to have several packets made up ahead of time so you can take them to your parties as well as have them ready to mail out for last minute bookings. This will also help you save money on shipping fees.        At least 2 Catalogs At least 2 Order forms Invitations – However many she asks for ( I recommend at least 25, if you only send 10 than that may be all she invites) Extra Hostess Incentives (see under Business Tools Section) Monthly hostess contest flyer (print off from the consultant site under Advertising / ―Pure Romance Hostess Incentive Flyer‖ for the month of when the party takes place) Recruiting flyer (from the consultant site under Advertising / ―Pure Romance Recruiting Ads‖ ―Hostess Credit Sheet‖ – hostess name, time and date of party and what hostess should expect from the party (print off from consultant site under PR Library / Forms & Documents / ―Hostess Credit Sheet‖ Guest Planner- this is found in the business tools section  3. How do I make Recruiting Packets? Pure Romance has made things so easy for us. You can now purchase a Recruiting Packet from the office so you don‘t have to worry about having to put one together. You can purchase these under the Paper Section of the ordering pages and they are $20 for 5 packets. I do encourage adding a few documents to each packet just so you give your recruit leads enough information:    Catalogs (mild & wild- this allows leads to realize that the party can be catered to anyone) Money Maker Qualifying Kit Flyer- found in the business tools section How to Find Hostesses document- found in the business tools section REMEMBER TO SIGN ALL PRCA‘S IN RECRUITING PACKETS SO YOU GET CREDIT FOR ANYONE SIGNING UP FROM YOUR PACKET 21 My party is over, now what?  It is very important to get your product to your customers ASAP if you do not carry stock. Once your party is over you should take a CIPL (found in Business Tools Section) and go through your orders and mark on the CIPL all the things you sold. This gives you a guide to go off of when you are placing your order. There are three different ways you can order your product from the company-Online, Via Phone, or by fax. I recommend when starting out that you use a CIPL (Consultant Inventory Price List) to keep track of what you need to order. This document is found in the Business Tools Section and can be printed out. Shipping from the corporate office to consultants usually takes 2 business days. If you place your order before 7:00am EST on Monday you can expect to receive your package on Wednesday. So select Ground Shipping (the cheapest shipping) unless your order is a rush.  When placing your order you have three different options: - Phone Order (you can call corporate and place a phone order going off your CIPL) - Fax Order (you can fax your COMPLETELY filled out CIPL to corporate) - Website order (you can go online and place an order through the website- most people find this the easiest way to order) Most anywhere in the states you will receive your orders within 1-4 business days, therefore you should be getting your product to the customers within 7-10 business days NO EXCEPTION If your party totals are more than $700 you will want to enter the party information also under the Hostess Incentive Contest entry section (Ann. Sales/Contests). Once you enter this you will print the Party Information Sheet and then mail this form along with a copy of all the orders from the party into corporate office. This will enter them into the Hostess Incentive Contest. Update your party lead and recruit lead list with anyone that marked on their order forms that they are interested in either the business or having a party. This will help you with the follow up for both aspects of your business.    If you can afford to put in a little extra money when first starting out you will see a huge increase in your first party sales. Women are impulse buyers and want to take their products home the night of, at least some it. Once your order comes in (usually 2-3 days via UPS) check it to ensure accuracy. If anything is missing, call customer service IMMEDIATELY. Now is the time when organization is key! Go thru your list of all backorders, and to whom they belong to. Carefully package each order, and mail directly to the customer. Never bulk mail orders to the hostess, and expect her to pass out each individual order. At Pure Romance, we pride ourselves on order confidentiality, and each customer has the right to receive their products in complete confidence. Whether it be in the order room, or via mail. For larger orders, or high priced orders, it would be in your best interest to get delivery conformation or insurance. This not only covers you, but you would be out a lot more money if an order gets “lost” in the mail. Be creative. Make a cute note thanking the customer for their patience while you order their product. Thank them for their business! When placing your first order please call or email me and I will go through it with you online so that we make sure that things are done correctly. Good luck! 22 How do I receive a backorder from the company? Anytime that you have a b/o item with Corporate it will automatically be shipped with your next order (as long as it is in stock), or if you are not going to be placing an order for a while you may call the corporate office and request your b/o items to be shipped at anytime for a small handling fee of $4.50 if you pay with a credit card or if paying COD $9.00, or you may email backorders@pureromance.com 3 times a year by Wednesday of a week and they will ship those b/o items out to you that following Friday How do I accept credit cards for sales at my parties? You can choose to go through Pure Romance to process your credits cards. Look under the Business Tools section on the website to get a step by step guideline for credit card processing. You will need the following information to process credit cards. *Customer name *Customer billing address *Customer Credit card number and type of card (visa/MC/Disc) *Credit card expiration date *3 or 4 digit security verification code off the back of card. *amount of charge When going through the company you will be charge 5% fee on credit cards and the remaining amount will be given to you as credit on file. This usually happens within 24 BUSINESS hours. Once your credits have been placed on file you can place an order and the credits will be used first then you will be charged the remaining amount. Some people chose to go through a merchant company to process their credit card sales which means you get an electronic machine and the sales get deposited into your checking account, usually within 48 business hours. I recommend this for those of you that are doing about $800 in credit cards sales a month. If you are only doing a few parties a month the fees associated with this service may not be worth it. Remember... if you DO NOT show any credits on file at time of order, you cannot use them, even if you imputed them already. Credit usually takes one business day to show up, so if you input them over the weekend, plan on them showing up as “credits on file” sometime Tuesday. 23 What is an ACTIVE Consultant and how do I become one? When you purchase your starter kit you are considered a CONSULTANT. It is very important for you to become an ACTIVE CONSULANT within your first 60 days of signing on as a consultant. The difference between being a consultant and an active consultant is that those that become qualified within their first 60 days are SERIOUS about making MONEY. If you do not become Active within your first 60 days, and still wish to be a Consultant- you will be required to purchase ANOTHER kit and start the process over again! (And who wants that?) In order to be an ACTIVE CONSULTANT you need to place a $250 RETAIL order within 60 days of your contract being processed. The best way to do this is to purchase the Money Maker Kit. You may purchase this within 60 days of your Kit-Ship date and will give you a BIGGER discount on our most popular items! Retail products are the products that go towards your sales totals monthly/yearly. The prices you actually pay depend on the buying discount level you are at. If you are just starting out and have no recruits (Sapphire level), then you pay 40% less the retail price. Net items are what ALL consultants pay regardless of what your buying discount level is. Net items include novelty items and are designed to be at least 50% discount if not more! Good luck! 25 How do you earn and order FREE PRODUCT? As a Sapphire, you earn $25 in free product for every $1000 you buy for that month in retail products. Your free products double, triple, etc. depending on your level. Consult the front of your party planner for further details. Don‘t forget to place your free product order online (you can also fax, email on the forums, or call your product in) using the ―Free Product Order‖ link from the 5th until the 13th (by 7am) of the following month! Free Product is shipped to you with you next order AFTER the 15th of that month. So if you do not place a regular order until the 20 th you will not receive your free product until then. You should use the entire amount you have earned each month because it does not roll over to the following month. The amount you have earned is in RETAIL so you do not get any discount on the product you are ordering. You cannot go over the amount you have earned and pay the difference. If you forget to order your free product you will lose it. MARK THIS IN YOUR CALENDER TO REMIND YOU TO PLACE YOUR ORDER Remember you earn the free product by having RETAIL sales in increments of $1000- so keep watch of your month RETAIL purchases, if you are within a hundred dollars or so it is sometimes worth it to place an extra order at the end of the month to bump you up to the next level. How do I return a defective product on warranty? You can return any item that is defective and purchased within the last 30 days. You cannot return something simply because your customer did not like it. In order to return something you must call in to corporate (guidelines are in the business tools section) to get a code, then fill out a warrant exchange form, and mail the product back to the company in it‘s ORIGINAL packaging. You will receive a replacement of that exact product, you can not trade for something of same value. 26 How can I earn More than my base at 40% discount?? You can choose to pass on these additional savings to your customers or keep the additional profit!    When available buy items by the case! For example, you can get XScream (one of our bestsellers) by the case. When you buy by the case, you get 12 for the price of 10! Check the Consultant Website daily! Corporate posts sales almost every other day!! Tons of opportunities to buy a certain amount and get items free! Monthly Sale – there are always a few products on sale for the entire month! Another very easy way to increase your buying discount is to recruit other consultants into your team. This moves you up- all the way up to 63% discount! Please refer to Training Guide ―Show me the Money‖ on ideas of increasing your profit margin. Do I receive a Birthday and Anniversary Discount? YES- you receive a 5% discount on one order during the month of your birthday and month of your PR anniversary. You cannot combine these to have 10% off one order if both fall in the same month. You MUST write in the comment section of your order that you would like to receive the 5% off for your Birthday or Anniversary month. What is the difference between Annual Training, Market Training, and Annual Convention?   PR University: PRU is held bi-monthly and is catered towards NEW Consultants. I HIGHLY recommend that you attend! Not only will you be able to network with other local consultants, but they will also cover everything from keeping organized, booking parties, to recruiting! Market Training: Pure Romance offers FREE trainings in over 55 cities across the United States. During these trainings you will be able to meet and network with women in your area, learn about current sales and contests that Pure Romance is offering, and learn new techniques to help your business grow. These are normally held in January and May. Annual Training: Annual Training takes place in Cincinnati, OH home of Pure Romance, and is a 2 ½ day FREE training seminar. Where you can watch and learn from renowned speakers in the industry, network with nationwide Consultants, and be the first to see new products (new products are introduced once a year). This is usually held in August. Annual Convention: Each year Pure Romance hosts an Annual Convention to honor our dynamic team of sales Consultants who have contributed to our overall company success. You will have the opportunity to network with our top Consultants, attend our black-tie Awards Banquet, and go on the shopping spree of a lifetime as you get to spend your hard-earned Convention Credits. This is normally held at the end of March or beginning of April in Las Vegas, Nevada.   27 How do I increase my sales? I’ve got several bookings but I’ve never had a $1000 show! We all wish that all of our shows were at least $1000. The good news is, they all have the potential to be! Several things can attribute to a fantastic show. * Everyone takes a different amount of time to set up, I show up about 20 minutes before the party is scheduled to start. Keep in mind that you should always encourage the hostess to invite the guests 30 minutes earlier then she wants the party to start because it always starts late * Once you start your demo you should try to keep it between an hour and an hour and half; often people lose interest after that. Then you should start the ordering process. Try to make this part go as fast and smoothly as possible because it can take a while. Try not to have one person in the ordering room too long, if they want to chat politely remind them that there are several other guests waiting to order but you would be happy to talk with her in more detail after everyone is done ordering. MORE IMPORTANT ADVICE! 1 It’s important to Hostess Coach. At the time of booking the date, and when you send her the hostess packet, touch on a few things such as, importance of inviting lots of guest. Usually only ½ of the ladies that say they will be there will actually show up. So suggest she over-invite. The more guest, the more orders, the bigger the show totals! In the hostess packet I always include at least 30 invites, sometimes more. The hostess may remember several people she wants to invite but overlooked when she sent out the first 20. If you give her an abundance of invites, hopefully she will use them and have a bigger turnout. You can always pick up the ones she doesn‟t use, the night of her party. Also, in the age of email, encourage her to use EVITE.com. This is an awesome email invitation, which allows guest to RSVP. Carry a substantial amount of inventory with you. As you are starting out it‟s hard to have everything, but reinvest your earnings back into your business. If you have 2 jars of Time in a Bottle on backorder, order those two and one or two more for your stock. The more you have the more you‟ll sell. Too many times if you are out of something, the customer will say, “That‟s ok, I‟ll get it the next time”. Up-sell and Cross-Sell. If a customer wants to purchase a Silver Bullet, suggest she go with the 7th Heaven. She‟ll love the different functions! Or how about the Sealed with a Kiss. She‟ll get a double bullet! When you get her hooked on one of the c-rings, she‟ll definitely need a lube and everyone needs cleaner. If a customer is interested in XScream or one of the other heighteners, sell her on a bullet (with the turbo sleeve) and/or 28 2 3 Bosom Buddy for a great workout without going to the gym, all she‟ll need is a ceiling fan! Romance Bubbles wouldn‟t be the same without the Pulsa Bath Ball, then spray on some Body Dew. Any toy sale needs a lube and cleaner and maybe the Hide-A-Vibe Pillow! 4 Practice doling out samples. Some products less is best. Example, Sensations, Bosom Buddy and Dust Me Pink. If you give your guests too much, then their reaction may be less than favorable. Too much Sensations and it could feel sticky. Too much Bosom Buddy may have some ladies thinking their lips are on fire. Too much Dust Me Pink might be a little chalky. So practice on your own arm or finger how much taste good. Plus it‟s a good idea to see how the products feel as well. Try out the Ex-T-Cee, Nympho and X-Scream to understand the differences. (You may want to try these on different days so your significant other doesn‟t have to peel you off the wall after you‟ve climbed it). Put emphasis on the money makers and the popular items like Basic Instinct, X-Scream / Ex-T-Cee/ Nympho Niagra, Coochy, Body Dew, etc. There‟s really no need to demo the novelty items. Why waste your time telling them about a keychain, or dice or nail file. You‟ll start to loose their attention around the one hour mark, so make the most of your demo time and explain our phenomenal line of fabulous products! Put the novelty items in a basket, or in a clear plastic carrier, or around your demo table for them to browse through. At the end of your demo, announce to the guests that you have a wonderful variety of novelty items that you did not have a chance to show them. Invite them to take a look at the basket of goodies. 5 6 You may choose to offer an extra incentive to boost your sales. Offer a special gift for orders over $100. You don‟t want to give away the store, but you also want them to see that gift as being worth it. Example: for orders over $100 tonight you‟ll give them their choice of Basic Instinct or Mini Nights of Passion for FREE! Or maybe you‟ll give them a choice of any 1 item at 25% off. You could also offer a similar incentive for a lower order amount such as for any order over $50 you‟ll give them 5% off their total. Explain to her how much more intense her orgasm will be with a heightener. And how the material of vibrators is naturally drying so suggest some Just Like Me, and remind her of the importance of proper care and cleaning of toys! With experience--- you will learn more about cross-selling and up-selling 31 Hostess Coaching 101 It's Friday night and you are PUMPED about your party. You are looking forward to making some extra cash, booking a few more parties, and maybe sparking interest for a new recruit! You show up at your hostess’s house and set up in a flash. Now you are ready for the guests to start arriving and one of the following situations occurs: 1. The hostess keeps apologizing about making you wait and franticly calls all her friends who say they are right around the corner. 2. Two ladies show up together, then maybe another. Then no one else, bringing the guest count to a whopping THREE LADIES!!! 3. No one shows up and your hostess cancels. Why did this happen?? Perhaps the hostess’s friends "forgot". Maybe it is baseball season; maybe the dog ate the invitations. But more than likely, you need to sharpen your hostess coaching skills. Probably the number one reason for low attendance and cancellations is lack of hostess coaching on your part. That may sound harsh, but it's true. You have got to work your business to make it work. If you were to ask most hostesses what they would have changed about their party, it would probably be that they didn’t have enough contact with you! Don’t be afraid to call her! You need to work together to make her party a success!!! Now, I am not saying that poor hostess coaching is the only reason for these things happening. Sure, you will have emergencies that come up - bad weather, sick children, death in the family, etc. But let's get real. These women booked with you because they WANT to have this party. They are interested in your product and business. Once you catch that interest, keep it going!! So what is hostess coaching? Well, it's hard to break down into a simple definition. It is many things. But mainly it is keeping your hostess interested and her enthusiasm high! o It is letting her know that you are fully intending to give everyone she invites a wonderful night they will never forget. o It is keeping her excited and willing to go that extra mile for the free things she will receive from you for hosting the party. o It is you reassuring her that you WILL be there! o It is the advice she receives from you - the seasoned professional - on how to make her party the best it can be. o And More! Hostess coaching gets easier the more you do it. There are many ways and techniques to do this. You don't have to be pushy or overbearing to let her know that you are excited about her party. Also keep in mind that Hostess Coaching is not just about the party. What you want to do is befriend your hostess over the course of preparing for, holding, and closing the party. You want to show her that you are the best consultant that she could have picked and make her want to work with you again and again! Make her a customer for life, or perhaps even recruit her. When I think back to some of the parties I have had in my home, I think about why they were successful. Let's take my Pampered Chef lady for example! She coached me in every aspect of my party. She gave me all the materials I would need in a nice folder. She called me within two days of sending it to go over each and every detail. She also called to check that I had sent my invitations out and gave me tips on how to get RSVPs. When I needed more catalogs, I had them 32 practically the next day. She made me aware of all the hostess specials I could get and how to maximize my free product. Sure, I could have looked over the hostess packet she sent and figured it all out for myself, but her calls made me feel like she was on my team and she really wanted my party to be successful. And she made me EXCITED about my party!!! I ended up having a $1,200 show and getting everything I wanted for free! Then, I collected $250 more in book orders to achieve an extra special post-show incentive!! All because she excited me to do so!! But you know what made me feel like a million bucks?? She tried to recruit me!! I was already doing Pure Romance at the time, and she knew that. But she was so excited about how my party turned out and my extra orders that she thought I would make a great addition to her team. She complimented me on how well I did and mentioned on several different occasions how she'd love to recruit me. I declined, of course, but it felt really good to have her ask! And three years later, she still mentions it every time we talk!!! So be aware that you should be attempting to cultivate a relationship that will last, as well as gaining a customer for life! What She Wants Let's consider why a woman would book a party in the first place. o o o o She wants your product!!! She wants to have fun!! She wants her guests to come and have fun! She and her guests want to learn something. But what does she really want?? What is she nervous about?? She wants to know that her party will be successful and worthwhile for all involved - you included! o She wants to know about your business. o She wants to know that you are going to be an attentive, professional, and energetic consultant. o She wants to be treated with respect. o She wants the process to be as simple and as stress-free as possible. Knowing these things, we can cater to those needs and worries. The following areas will help define what you can do as a consultant to make it easy and fun for her to have a successful party. I want my hostesses to think back on her party and say "Wow! That was so easy! And so much fun!! I'd totally do that again!!" A little extra legwork on your part can bring great successes for you both! o Keep in mind that even though she may be very excited about the party, you will need to urge her along every step of the way. Make it seem like you are doing most of the work for her. The Initial Set-Up This is when you get to make your first impression on her. Choose your language and words wisely, as she will form her ideas of what kind of party it will be based on this first conversation with you. Smile when you talk - you will sound friendly. Of course, you will have the upper hand if you are face to face, perhaps at a party. This way, she has already seen you in action and she wants to book with you because she liked what she saw. But let's go the other way, and make this a booking phone call. Some consultants find it easier to use a script or perhaps a checklist of things to talk about. Other consultants just let it flow naturally. 33 Important topics to cover: Has she ever attended a Pure Romance Party? Explain how you will conduct the party. Tell her about some of the free gifts and discounts she will get, but don't bombard her. Save the specifics for the next time you talk to her.  No men, children, even babies  Explain what will be in her Hostess packet and ask her to read everything in it carefully.  Explain that you will be handling the invitations for her and how to send you back the guest list. Also let her know how important it is to have it back by the date you specify.  Set up a time to call her next week, after she's had a chance to review the packet Once you send out her packet, be sure to place a follow-up call within a week to go over the packet with her. Don't even THINK of just sending out the packet and hoping it will turn into a great party.    The First Follow-Up Call "Hi Michelle!! This is Noelle Wilcoxson with Pure Romance!! How ya' doin'??? I am calling to see if you got your hostess packet in the mail!!?? Are you excited??? I am too!! I just wanted to go over a few things in the packet with you. Is it handy??...." So it starts something like that! Have her pull out her packet and go over it with her. Go over your hostess incentives, how to collect outside orders, and remind her that those will count toward her party total if she has them for you the night of her show. Ask her to begin working on her wish list and guest list. Remind her when you need those back. Re-iterate that she needs to invite more ladies than she thinks will come. Ask if she has any questions. Let her know you will call again once you have sent out her invitations. If she is handling them, let her know you will call to remind her to send them out. Go over your cancellation policy with her. Let her know that she can call if she needs any extra catalogs or order forms. Thank her again and let her know when you'll call again! The Invitations and Guest List How many times have you showed up to a party and heard the guests saying something about not getting the invitations until two days ago? Or have you ever had to deal with a Bachelorette's party getting ruined because the maid of honor didn't send out the invitations in a timely manner?? If you aren't sending out the invitations for your guests, you are missing out on successful parties. How many times have you put off mailing a letter because you didn't have a stamp and you keep forgetting to go to the post office?? How many times do you think your hostesses put off mailing their invitations because they don't have any postcard stamps and keep forgetting to go to the post office???? More times than you think!! So, in order to ensure that her invitations are sent out in a timely manner, YOU should take charge of sending them YOURSELF. Here's how: Include a guest list in your hostess packets. (See appendix A) When you are going over the hostess packet with her, tell her that you are going to take care of sending out her invitations as a service to her. Explain that you will need that guest list back NO LATER than a specified date. Be sure to include a stamped envelope addressed to you, so she can easily send it back to you. Mark the specified date on the envelope, too! Be sure to highlight it with a bright color so she sees it! 34 Now, this is a time when you will need to get a feel for your hostess. When you tell her that you are going to be taking care of the invitations, you will get one of two reactions. She will say: 1. Oh! That's awesome! Or 2. Oh..... (In a slightly negative tone.) If she is happy to comply, great! If you get the second response, feel her out a little more. Perhaps she wasn't planning to actually send the invitations, but rather, hand them out at work. Or maybe she was going to send an e-vite. Or maybe she just WANTS to do them herself. In any case, if you get the feeling that she wants to handle the invitations herself, let her. Just make a note to yourself that you will need to make a few more reminder calls to be sure she is on track! If I am going to let her handle the invitations, I like to make it as simple for her as I can. I make up a sheet of labels for her to put on her invitations so that she doesn't get writer's cramp in the middle and wonder why she wanted to have this party anyway!! (See Appendix B for an example of my labels.) If you really want to make it simple, you can send her enough postcard stamps, too. That way, all she has to do is address them and drop them in the mail. It all depends on how much extra you are willing to invest in your hostess. The Wish List Imagine this situation: You have just done an awesome party, sold a ton of product, and the now it's the hostesses’ turn to place her order! You know she is excited to get her items - she is the hostess after all! So she selects her items, and lo and behold, you are all sold out of everything she wants. She is the one who worked so hard to have a great party for you and she ends up empty handed!!! I hate it when this happens!! But I have a solution! Use the Hostess Wish List! This is a simple list you will include in the hostess packet. (See Appendix C for sample.) You are asking her to pre-shop in the catalog and list up to ten items she is definitely interested in. Then you ask her to return it to you at least two weeks before her party. I write the date I need it back at the top of the list and then highlight it! If you are having her send back the guest list, she can just mail this list back with it. Also include a stamped envelope addressed to you so she can easily return it. When you go over this with her, let her know that just because she lists these items, it does not obligate her to purchase those items. The wish list allows you to order those items before the party so that you have them for her that night. When you get these items, set them aside and don't get them out until she comes into the ordering room. Lay them all out for her and she can just pick out the items she wants. Plus, she may purchase more than she had planned if everything is right there for her!! Whatever she doesn't want, just add back into your stock! When you call to go over the hostess packet, tell her the benefit of getting the wish list to you on time! Let her know that since she will be ordering last, there is a chance that you may not have what she wants by the time she gets in there unless she fills out the list. Tell her you want to make sure she is taken care of!!! Hostess Thank You If your hostess gets her Wish List and Guest List to you on time, dash off a quick thank you card and include a coupon for a small gift that she will receive the night of her party. A Coupon Book for Lovers is awesome for this. This is a very simple gesture that will make a big impression!! 35 Thank her for getting her paperwork to you on time and tell her how much you are looking forward to her party. And don't forget to thank her for booking with you! The Second Follow Up Call Once you have sent out her invitations, give her a call to let her know that you have done so. Thank her again for getting her guest list to you on time. Coach her on how to get confirmations. I let her know that since the invitations went out today, she can begin calling her guests to get their RSVP in a few days. Stress to her that she should not just wait for everyone to call her. Most people are so bad about RSVPing anymore. Also, people are just busy. They may just be putting off getting back to her. And the biggest reason is that it is always better to personally invite someone. I tell them to let the paper invitation be just a reminder and let the actual invitation come from them. I say something like this: "I recommend that you give each of your ladies a call to see if they can make it. You don't have to seem pushy! Just call and say "Hey! I was just calling to make sure you got the invitation I sent for my Pure Romance party I'm having on (date)! I was hoping you could make it!" This way, you are starting the conversation off on a light note instead of "WHY HAVEN'T YOU CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN COME!!??" " Thank her again for booking with you. Ask her if she needs anymore catalogs, order forms, or invitations. And let her know that you will call a few days before her party to go over her final guest count, verify directions, etc. Far Out Parties - Keeping the Enthusiasm Alive So what if she has booked her party with you several months in advance?? Well, you need to be prepared to do a little more coaching than usual. You will need to place a few more calls to keep her excited and on track. If you are looking for an excuse to call, just tell her you called to see if she needed any more catalogs or order forms. Tell her you are looking forward to working with her and that she can call any time! If a new catalog or hostess incentive comes out during the time leading up to her party, send her a copy! You may need to write yourself notes to call her a few more times. Write it in your calendar or use sticky notes. I love sticky notes! You can eliminate this problem by not booking parties this far in advance. Some consultants have a policy of not booking more that two months out. Some even less than that!! A Few Days Before This is usually the last call I make to my hostess before her party. I call to get her final guest count, make sure I know where I am going, and answer any last minute questions. Hopefully, when you ask about guest count, she will tell you she has a good number coming. Occasionally, she will voice concern to you that she may not have very many coming and she is worried about having a bad party. This is your time to swoop in and smother her with reassurance that no matter how many ladies show, you will make sure everyone has a great time! This is the second that you can make or break her excitement. I KNOW what your mind is saying - "Oh man...this is going to suck!! I don't want to even waste my time..." TURN THAT VOICE OFF RIGHT THIS INSTANT!! You cannot afford to let her hear ANY bit of negativity in your voice! Let her know that you have done parties for groups from 3- 36 30, and each one is fun in its own right! If there are only a few ladies, you can turn it into a more personal show! Get her excited about receiving more attention, hands on time, and extra knowledge! But keep a positive attitude no matter what! Let me tell you, my biggest party to date was for a lady who told me she thought she had about eight ladies coming, if that. Well, twenty-five eager ladies showed up and sales soared to $2,185, and I got a new recruit!!! So you just never know!!! After The Party Follow-Up Call Even if you don't call every single one of your customers to "follow-up," you will definitely want to call your hostess to make sure she is happy! If you had to send any part of her order to her, ensure that she did indeed receive it. And make sure she is happy with the products she picked. Thank her again for such a wonderful party and let her know how much you enjoyed the chance to work with her. Congratulate her on how well she did and remind her of the free product she earned! Let her know about any party booking credit she will receive and how she can redeem it. Now, this would be the perfect time to offer her your business opportunity. And it can be as simple as saying something like, "Would you ever consider doing this?? You'd be incredible!!" Did you know that your hostesses are some of your greatest prospects?? Consider that they are ladies who like to have fun - they booked with you, didn't they?? And they are already interested in your product! Work it!! Or simply let her know how much she would have made had she been the consultant! If she had a $1,000 party, she would have made $400! That is a little over $100 an hour!! And remind her how much FUN it was!!! If she says YES - set up an appointment to talk over coffee! If she says NO, that's ok! Just tell her to keep you in mind if she ever changes her mind or knows someone else who would like to opportunity. Let her know that you will always be available should she need anything else! Hopefully by the time you are this far, you have gotten to know her. And hopefully she will begin to think of you as more of a friend than a sales lady! It disheartens me so much when someone cannot remember the name of a past consultant they worked with. How much of a good impression do you think that consultant made?? I know my Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, and Tastefully Simple ladies first and last names, and I have their numbers on speed dial! And honestly, I would never work with any other consultant from their respective businesses. Why?? Because they coached me and took care of me. And they helped me have successful parties! Work to foster this kind of relationship with your hostesses. Lastly, even after you have made the follow-up call, pop another thank you card into the mail to her and kill her with kindness. Let her know that you are her Pure Romance Lady for LIFE! And Beyond..... Keep her coming back to you for all her needs. Send her a new catalog every so often. Send her Preferred Hostess Only Specials. Send her a holiday card, birthday card, etc - all with coupons and discounts, etc. And you may just want to call to check in every so often. Don't let her forget about you by letting her know that you haven't forgotten about her!! 37 If you constantly have parties with low attendance, if cancellations are common for you, etc, then you seriously need to re-evaluate your methods of hostess coaching. Remember what your hostesses want and give it to them! Make a good impression on her and pride yourself in customer service. Remember, our hostesses bring us the money! Let's show her how much we appreciate that!! You cannot expect to pop a packet in the mail, show up to do the party, and have huge turnouts in sales and attendance. It just doesn't work. So sharpen those coaching skills and watch your profits, reputation, and business grow!! Appendix A: Guest List I could not post my guest list here. The guest list I use is similar to the Karen Phelps triplicate forms that can be purchased from her website. My exact guest list came from a book called "The Best of the Lemon Aid Lady" by Christie Northrup. Highly recommended! Can also find a Guest List in Biz Tools! Appendix B: Labels I use the Avery 5160 Address Labels. I print an entire sheet and include these in the hostess packet if she insists on doing the invitaitons herself. There‟s a lot of information out there! Once you‟ve read the handbook and contest booklet, read it again. Keep them handy to reference. Keep your word. Under-promise and over-deliver. If you have to backorder product, make sure you get it out to her right away. If you tell her it will take a week and she gets it in 4 days she‟ll be pleasantly surprised. But if you tell her it will take 3 days and it takes 5, she‟ll be unpleasantly peeved! 2 3 Attend trainings whether it is local or corporate. You‟ll get a tremendous amount of information, confidence and motivation. It‟s also a chance to meet and network with other consultants including the Advisory Council, Board of Directors and President‟s Club. This is the place to go to pick their brains and find out what has made them so successful.
